“It’s not just soap; it’s a way of life”

Sustainability has been defined as "the capacity to endure", and encompasses a responsibility to live in union with all things. We believe that this fast paced world is losing its connection with nature and no longer has time for the simple things that makes life worth living. In hopes of recapturing a way of life quickly being forgotten, we have taken steps toward a more sustainable way of life. We grow our own vegetables and herbs, have tried to choose environmentally conscience products, and have opted to make, instead of buy, when we can. This has created a foundation of many traditions that now spans three generations of our family.  Tapping the trees for sap in the spring, tending the gardens, buying local, making homemade wine and, of course, making soap!  These traditions have become an important part of our story and our family that we wish to share with you.

So when we say “It’s not just soap: it’s a way of life”, we mean to say that, to us, our soap represents a belief that we can all find enjoyment and take pride in a simple but fuller life. Though we have taken many small steps and have made changes in what and how we do things, we know that we still have a long ways to go. At the heart of sustainability is the connectiveness between us all. So we invite you to join us in our exploration and growth toward self reliance and sustainability.  We are working on a blog where we will post our experiences and we hope that you share yours as well.
