Our Process
To ensure quality, our soaps are produced in small batches, right in our century old farmhouse. Our soaps are produced the old fashioned way, using what is called "Cold Process". We start with only the highest-quality ingredients -- high quality saponified olive, coconut, and palm kernel oils are the base for all our soap products. This process produces mild, long lasting soaps that are rich in glycerin and lather.
Each soap is sold as approximately a 4.5 oz. bar, but they are hand cut so many bars are actually closer 5oz. Look for products with a "Natural" label. These products contain only natural pigments and essential oils.
The Importance of Olive Oil and Glycerin
Our customers compliment us on how well our soaps lather and how long they last. But, they also understand the importance of olive oil. Some soapers use only a small percentage of olive oil in their recipes. We don't skimp and its goodness shows in our soaps.
Our end product is a long lasting bar of soap that retains its glycerin. Glycerin is important, because it is the actual ingredient that serves to moisturize your skin. Many commercially produced soaps have their glycerin “pulled off” to be used in other products... so, you are basically buying a bar of detergent. DETERGENT -- something that will actually DRY OUT your skin. Who needs THAT?
Caring For Your Soap
Welcome to the world of handcrafted soaps! We know you will enjoy the special qualities of the soaps you purchase. Handcrafted soaps contain organic ingredients and sometimes require special care. To get the most of your soap: keep it dry between use. Our soaps are well cured and long lasting but if they are left sitting in water they will not last as long. A well drained soap dish will do the trick. Also, on humid days you may notice moisture collecting on the surface of the soap. This is normal for the soaps as they contain ingredients to attract moisture, that is why they are good for your skin. If you are not going to use your soaps right away, store them in dry place and they should be fine. We hope you enjoy your purchase.
