It's Show Season!

Our favorite and most hectic time of year.
We do craft shows all year long but 90% of our shows take place the end of August through the first weekend of October. This definitely kicks off our busy season as we head into the holidays. We love craft shows because it gives us a chance to meet all of you, see different communities, and reconnect with our other crafty friends. This time of year can feel like a blur. We usually setup on a Friday and tear down on Sunday. Three days out of every week not sleeping in our bed and traveling adds up. This also only leaves four days for us to do what we need to do outside of the business as well as prepare for the next weekend. Our setup and tear down are quite physically demanding. After years of setting up we have our setup time down to about 3 hours. Setting up the tent, setting up and leveling tables, putting product out and then the final shushing. Our product is quite heavy each box weighing about 40lbs, we can have anywhere from ~24 to ~40 boxes! We get very little sleep and a reasonable workout. Then we get to do the fun part, rain or shine meeting you and talking about all of the products we make. Fall is my personal favorite season, but it can be hard to sit outside all day in the weather that it can bring. A weekend in the sun or overcast is perfect! A weekend in the wind and rain can be very disappointing, we see fewer people, and it is hard to stay warm when you can't leave your tent. If you follow us on social media you know we have crazy weekends but you also know we like to keep a garden: garlic, onions, tomatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, various fruits, green beans, cucumbers, herbs and more. All of this needs to be processed, we cook it, can it, make all kinds of sauces etc.. We also have to do the second pull of honey! We have around 20 hives and are anticipating a few hundred pounds of honey. We pulled around 300 pounds in the spring and are expecting to pull even more than that this fall. We love fall and show season but it can result in some serious burnout before we continue rolling into the holiday season. Luckily we are a family run business and can usually find some pretty good help in a pinch. Family and friends are excited for the chance to help out, they get to see behind the scenes and we of course always feed them and send them home with goodies. They don't feel the same burnout we get struck with and it makes the tasks a little less daunting for us. If you attend our shows thank you! If you know of a show near you that you think we would love, send us some info. If you read this whole post and you can't make it to a show enjoy this code: SHOWTIME for 10% off your next order!
